THE LANDINGS The 2017-2018 United Way Campaign is the most important campaign that we have ever had! Why is it the most important campaign we have had? This is the first time our overall goal exceeds $10 million, and Hurricane Irma has made the needs of our community even greater than before. In order to fully fund Lee County’s 76 Partner Agencies and over 225 programs, we need your help.

Our campaign theme this year is the POWER OF 10, and our call to action is to be 10 MILLION STRONG by building a stronger community with successful children, financially stable families, supported veterans, and independent seniors. Your United Way is:

  • LOCAL – Your gift to United Way stays in your community helping local people.
  • ACCOUNTABLE – Over 425 community leaders visit and review every United Way supported agency each year. This ensures program and fiscal accountability.
  • EFFICIENT – Your United Way takes pride in keeping overhead costs low: 91% of all money raised goes directly to programs that make a difference in lives.
  • TRUSTWORTHY – United Way has received Charity Navigator’s highest rating of 4 stars for five years in a row.

If you gave to our United Way in the past, you have already helped the victims of Hurricane Irma. Because of your past support, The United Way Network of agencies was in place and ready to help our residents.

  • United Way 2-1-1 took over 50,000 calls from residents who were desperate for help and information.
  • The United Way Volunteer Center recruited and mobilized hundreds of volunteers to help with everything from debris cleanup to feeding people at shelters.
  • United Way distributed over $500,000 in supplemental funding from the Southwest Florida Hurricane Relief Fund (in partnership with the SWFL Community Foundation) to the local network of United Way direct assistance agencies.

The important thing to remember is that there were numerous people in need in our community before Hurricane Irma, and there will be even more people in need as our community continues to recover.

Your United Way Community Campaign Committee has set a goal of $15,000 for The Landings community, and we hope you will join your friends and neighbors by giving today.

Sincerely,

The Landings Campaign Committee
